Assistant Guide Conference - Canyoneering - Red Ledges, Spanish Fk Cyn

*All invited who wish to become a Mt Mama Assistant Guide. Must have previous experience in this activity.

Itinerary -

3 pm - Meet/Safety Chat - Red Ledges Picnic Area, Diamond Fk Cyn, Spanish Fk Cyn

3:30 - 6 pm - Practice Techniques and Rappel and Rescue

6- 7pm - Review skills and pass-off

Activity -

Canyoneering Training - Meet at picnic area and practice ACA Core skills: knots, anchors. At Second station at the rappelling wall, practice partner rescues and assists. Third station at large boulder practice sit and laying rappelling starts and anchors. Fourth station at the arch, practice hand lines and prussiks and rappel off your own releasable anchor system (Biner block).

Gear - climbing harness (can rent), helmet (can rent),  Rappelling device (optional), Carabiner (optional), leather gloves, T shirt, shorts/pants/yoga pants, running shoes, 1-2L water, backpack, 2-4 snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses

Rentals (on your own) - climbing harness: $5 (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $10 (Out N’ Back in Orem)

helmet: $4/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $4/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
