*This is a lottery event. You will be notified on Sept 15th if you got in. If you are on the waiting list, you will be notified as spots open up. 

** you MUST be able to hike Y Mountain or it's equivalent in 4 hours or less and have hiked a 10+ mile strenuous mountain in the last year to qualify

Itinerary: 

Wed - Carpooling - (6 hr drive) and camp 9 am - Lehi; 930 am - Springville 

Camp - 3 pm - North Rim Campground 

Thurs: Trailhead (Grand Canyon North Rim) - 500 am 

Hike North Kiabab Trail to Bright Angel Campground (13.7 mi) 

Camp - Bright Angel Campground 

Fri: Hike BACK UP SAME ROUTE (unless we can find someone to shuttle) or shuttles are $120 per person

Camp - Demotte Campground 

Sat: Drive Home

Directions:

Entrance - North Kiabab Trail, North Rim, Arizona

Exit - Bright Angel Trailhead, South Rim, Arizona

Activity: Backpack North Kiabab Trailhead (North Rim) to Bright Angel Trailhead (South Rim) - 24.6-mile point-to-point trail near North Rim, Arizona. Generally considered a challenging route. We will be backpacking down 13.2 miles to Bright Angel Campground. The following EARLY morning, we will be hiking back up if we have no shuttle or up the Bright Angel Trail 9.1 miles. This trail gets VERY hot and is VERY steep. All Trails Trip Report 

Gear: Thin T-shirt, thin long-sleeve shirt, fleece,  rain jacket, shorts or thin hiking pants,  running  or hiking shoes, 6 L of water, water filter (can rent), 8-10 snacks, 65+ liter backpack with waistbelt, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, first aid kit, thin sheet for sleeping or sleeping bag liner, sleeping pad (can rent), tent (can rent), headlamp, pj's, toiletries, dehydrated or backpacking meals,  cooking stove (No campfires), compass

- Sleeping bags (0 degree - $22, 30 degree - $22 BYU Outdoors Unlimited; 0 degree - $14, 30 degree - $10 UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)

- Sleeping pads (thermarest - $9 BYU Outdoors Unlimited; thermarest - $8 UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)

- Backpacks (85 liter - $12 BYU Outdoors Unlimited; 65 liter - $14 UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
