Canyoneering - Bensen Creek (Extreme)

**This is a canyoneering trip and participants are REQUIRED to take a Mt Mama Canyoneering Clinic within the last 12 months to attend.

Itinerary:

OPTIONAL Drive down Friday night (3 1/2 hr) - camp in dispersed areas around Capitol Reef 

Saturday

6 am - Drive down Sat morning (3 1/2 hr)

10:00 am - Entrance Trailhead

10:30-4:30 pm - Run Canyon

4:30 pm - Exit Trailhead

5:00 pm - Drive Home

Directions:  Capitol Reef National Park

Exit: Cassity Arch Viewpoint (1/2 mile between exit and entrance)

Entrance: Cassidy Arch Trailhead

Activity: 

Canyoneering Cassidy Arch - 3AII  Beautiful arch route with 8 rappels! About 3-4 miles including the 1/2 mile hike back to the entrance trailhead. You can rappel through one arch and two natural bridges with highest rappel at 132 ft. Road Trip Ryan Trip Report. 

Gear: Rappel device with ability to lock off and add friction (ATS, Totem, Critter, Prana), locking carabiner, harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), (NO COTTON) thin liner short sleeve shirt, hiking pants, rain/windproof jacket, shoes with grip, headlamp, 2 L water, 4-6 snacks + packed lunch, backpack, first aid kit, small knife, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat

Rentals (on your own):

- Helmet: $4/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $6/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
