Snowshoeing - Willow Lake, Big Cottonwood Cyn (Beginner)

Itinerary:

Carpooling - 9 am

Trailhead - 10 am 

Snowshoe - 10-1 pm

Directions: Big Cottonwood Cyn, Utah. Willow Heights Trailhead  Parking on roadside. No bathrooms.

Activity:

Snowshoe - Willow Lake (Willow Heights) trail - 2.4 mile loop to a large pond. Trailhead is marked by large boulder with "Willow Heights" inscribed on the north side of the road. Dirt trail heads north for about 5 min then reaches a "T". Either way will take you to the lake. Right has several switch backs. Left crosses a bridge and then in about 2 in has a sharp right turn onto an old road. Follow up to lake. There is a trail that goes around the lake as well and through a nice aspen forest. Gear: Snowshoes/micro spikes (weather permitting), waterproof boots, waterproof pants, long sleeve shirt, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack, 1-2 Liters water, 3-4 snacks
