Moderately steep hike to a 10,000 ft peak!! Incredible views of Lake Catharine and Brighton Ski Resort.
Hike Sunset Peak - 4 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail to a beautiful pass and summit above Lake Catharine. Start at Catharine's Pass trailhead and head south east up the well-marked trail. About 20 min the trail forks. Take the left fork up the east side of the basin to Catharine's Pass. Here, you can see Lake Martha and Lake Catharine below and Sunset Peak to the right. Take the rocky and sandy trail up to the right and behind the hill. The trail then descends to the saddle before climbing left along the ridgeline to almost the summit. It turns sharply left about 5 min from the top. Don't miss this turn, or you will continue down the ridge to the east. Trail Report
