Itinerary:
7 am - Race checkin
730-930 am - Trail Running/Mt Biking Race
1030-130 pm - Rock Climbing/Rappelling Race
230-430 pm - Kayaking Race
5 pm - Awards Ceremony
Drive: Race begins at Summit Trailhead (top of the Alpine Loop), American Fk Cyn; Race ends at Tibble Fk Reservoir
Cost: Day use fee $6 or National Parks Pass
Activity:Â
Trail Running - 2.4 mile loop with moderate ups and downs
Mt Biking - 3 mile loop with moderate ups and downs
Rappelling - 60 ft rappel
Rock Climbing - 5.8 climb
Kayaking - 1/4 mile paddle
Participants:Â
- Participate individually
- Will be notified of the courses for each event the week of the race and be able to download directions onto the Gaia app (free).Â
- Responsible for bringing own gear, food and water (gear must be approved previous to race by Race Director - Emily Hacken)
- Sit on top kayaks will be provided
- Rock climbing and rappelling ropes and routes will be set up previously.Â
- Each location will have a Time Recorder, Medical assistant, and Safety Instructor (volunteers needed!)
- Will pick up a colored tag at the half-way point for every activity to pass off that event
- Carpool with 4-5 other race participants between events
- Mt Bikes and Kayaks will be trailered and kept at Tibble Fk Reservoir until end of race (bring a bike lock for bikes)
- Fastest time wins
Families are able to wait for participant at Tibble Fk Reservoir
Gear:Â
Trail Running - Trail running shoes, t shirt, shorts, light long sleeve shirt, water bottle, sunscreen, hat (optional), sunglasses
Mt Biking - Mt Bike with Front Suspension (hard tail) (can rent), helmet, thin T-shirt, thin long-sleeve shirt, shorts or yoga pants, running shoes, elbow and knee pads (optional but encouraged), bike repair kit and hand pump (optional but encouraged), 1-2 L water or 2 water bottles, 3-4 snacks, small backpack, sunscreen, sunglasses, biking gloves
Rappelling - Harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), rappell device, locking carabiner, leather gloves, running shoes/boots
Rock Climbing - Harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), exercise clothing, climbing shoes (can rent), 1-2 L water, daypack, 2-4 snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses
Kayaking - Sit on top kayak/paddle/life jacket (provided), Thin T-shirts, thin long-sleeve shirts, fleece, rain jacket, shorts or hiking pants, swimming suit, water shoes, running shoes or sandals, 2 L water bottles, snacks, small backpack/drybag, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
