Activity:

Snowshoe Porter Fork Trail - 6.8 mile out and back (we hiked up for awhile then sledded down- not doing the whole length). This is in Avalanche Area so monitor conditions. We came the morning after a big snowstorm and snowshoes still not needed unless you went off trail. This trail is wide and steadily used by people to telemark ski down, snowboard down or sled.  We found the Mercer Missle and Disc sleds did not work very well with the varied trail. Riders of these sleds had to get up and walk from time to time. Recommend you take plastic long walmart type sleds, or foam sleds like Airheads worked the very best. Super fun to hike up and sled down. Too long for little kids but older elementary and older will like this one, especially with the family dog. Dogs are welcome on this canyon. ODD days OFF-leash. Even days on leash. Trail Report.
