Cross Country Skiing - Bryce Canyon NP 2/24/24

Sample Itinerary:

Arrive at Bryce - 9:45 am

Ski Loop - 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Lunch - 12:15 pm - 1:00 pm

Hike Navajo Loop & Queen’s Garden - 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm


Directions: Ruby's Inn Winter Adventure Center, Bryce Canyon NP


Activity: 

Cross country ski Rim Trail - ski 1.5 total out and back to the rim (easy and flat) or complete the 3 mile loop (easy-moderate; to counter clockwise) on edge of Bryce Canyon! Groomed generally. Get rentals at the Rubys Inn Winter Adventure Center. Start trail at the north east corner of parking lot.


Snowshoe/hike -Navajo Loop & Queens Garden - 2.9 mi (moderate). All Trails Trip Report. Patchy cell reception, bathrooms at Bryce Canyon Visitors Center. Cost - NP entrance fee $35/car


Ice Skating - Skate rink outside of Rubys Inn Adventure Center. $7 per person


Bathrooms - Flushing toilets at Rubys Inn Winter Adventure Center

Cell Phone Service - yes

Dogs - no


Gear: Cross-country skiis/poles/shoes (can rent at Bryce Cyn - Rubys Inn Adventure Center), gaiters (optional - can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom (synthetic yoga pants), wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants (if it will be snowing, otherwise they get too hot), long

sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too warm), 1 Liters water, 3-4 snacks +road trip snacks and such.


Rentals:

Cross Country Skis/poles/shoes: $15 adult (Rubys Inn Adventure Center); rent BYU or UVU night before as a 2 day rental.


Snow shoes: $15 or $10 after 1:00pm (Rubys Inn Adventure Center)
