Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding - Fairview 1/12/23

Itinerary:

Carpooling - 8:30 am Lehi and 9:00 am Springville

Trailhead - 10:15 am

Ski/Board - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm (takes about 5 min for vehicle to drive from top to bottom and about the same time for an intermediate to advanced skiier or boarder to do the run)

Home - 2:00 pm

IMPORTANT: MUST BE ABLE TO SKI/BOARD BLUE INTERMEDIATE TO ATTEND - at times, the trail is technical (tight with trees)

Directions: Head up to the top of Fairview Cyn just past the Skyline Drive parking lot. Drop off location is next to an 8% grade sign (facing the other direction) - drop off skiiers/boarders on the right. Pick up location is downhill, back down canyon, across the street from the "Turnaround 1/4 mile". Turn around at the actual Turnaround and then pick up skiiers and boarders on the right.

Drop Off 39°40'11.0"N 111°19'31.9"W

Pick Up 39°40'29.0"N 111°19'53.4"W

Activity: Downhill Ski or Snowboard - Snowboarders will notice a 10-15 ft manmade hill they can start from. The first 1/3 of the run is slightly downhill through a meadow. Stay left to keep to larger and wider runs. If you go straight, you will hit smaller, more narrow tree runs. This section is a Blue rating. Some rails also. If you head left or right make sure you head back to make it to the vehicles. Too far right and there is a 15 ft cliff. See map below.

Sledding: We did have a couple people try sledding. It's tricky, but doable and kinda out of control!

Gear: Skis/poles/boots or snowboard, helmet (can rent), thin liner pants, thin long sleeve shirt, ski pants, ski coat, hat, gloves, goggles, hand warmers, snacks gaiters (optional - can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom, wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
