Hiking - Lake Catherine, Big Cottonwood Cyn 8/3/21

Alpine hike past three picturesque lakes.


Directions - Big Cottonwood Canyon, Brighton Ski Resort. Trailhead


Activity -

Hike Lake Catherine Via Brighton Lakes Trail - 4.4 mile out and back heavily trafficked trail located at Brighton, Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. Park in the Brighton Ski Resort Parking lot (Bathrooms are not available in the lodge, but on the west end of the parking lot). Head up the hill to the left of the kiosk at the parking lot. Follow the signs to Lake Catharine past Lake Mary (1 hr uphill rocky dirt trail) and Lake Martha (totally worth the stop - 30 min flat dirt trail). About a 40 min uphill rocky dirt trail to Lake Catherine. There was a left turnoff to a mine tailings right before Lake Catherine which was filled in, but we were able to see Rock Picas. You can fish in these lakes. Trail Report

Gear - Hiking pants, synthetic T-shirt, long sleeve synthetic top, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack with waist belt, 2-3 Liters water, 4-6 snacks, first aid kit, hiking boots/running shoes, trekking poles (optional)

Hike - 4:30-8:30 pm

5:30 - Lake Mary

6 pm - Lake Martha

7 pm - Lake Catherine

Home - around 9:30 pm
