Hiking - Little Rock Canyon 5/11/21

Steep stair-stepper hike with little traffic but tricky trail to follow. Great views at the top!

Directions: Near Provo Temple, small canyon north of Rock Cyn. Trailhead

Activity:

Hiking Little Rock Canyon - 2 mile steep out and back trail near Provo that offers scenic views and is rated as moderate. 45 min steep stair-stepping with large boulders. The trail can become difficult to follow, but avoid the rock slides and look for cairns. Using a map app was very helpful (Gaia or All Trails). After 45 min you get to a flatter section as you turn left out of the gully and onto the saddle. About 5 min flat before the last 10 min steep climb to the summit.

Gear - T-shirt, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, hiking pants/shorts, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack, 2 Liters water, 3-4 snacks, hiking shoes/boots.

Sample Itinerary:

Hike - 5-8:30pm

Home - around 9 pm
