Directions - Peak View Trailhead, Draper (LIMITED parking at trailhead)
Activity -
Hike Lone Peak - 17 mile total out and back. Difficult and steep hike with switchbacks and some sections through woods. Mostly exposed to sun and beautiful rocky cirque at the top. This is an extreme hike! If you have not done a hike that is over 12+ miles before, do not attempt. The trail is hot and not much shade for miles 1-3. Some tree cover until mile 5. After Ennis Peak (mile 6) it goes into a beautiful forested area with some snow and water available to filter. The last part of the hike is a class 3 scramble to the peak. Can be done without ropes. If not confident with bouldering, do not attempt! Last part of hike is strenuous and slow because of bouldering and scrambling. Plan to spend all day or 14-16 hours on this trip depending on the speed of hikers. All Trails Trip Report. Summit Post Trip Report
Tips:
Can filter water at mile 6-7.
Snow is still there for the last part of the hike, but spikes are not needed.
Electrolytes and food were key for this hike.
We did 17 miles not the 15.6 that AllTrails lists.
Recommend starting earlier than 6 am unless you are ok hiking down in the dark
