Hiking Santaquin Peak - 11.5 mile total out and back up to Santaquin Peak. Long and steep trail with rewarding and incredible views! All Trails Trip Report. This is a beautiful hike with lots of wildflowers in early July. There was some snow on the first half of the hike but it was easy to cross. The hike is steep with 3600 feet of elevation gain. Hiking poles are strongly recommended. Although the trail is not very busy, be aware of potential motorcycles on the trail at points. There is tree cover for the first few miles but the rest is exposed. There is not anywhere to filter water so you must bring enough for the hike.
