Hiking - Sunrise Primrose Overlook, American Fork Cyn 9/5/26

Sample Itinerary:

Trailhead - 5 am

Hike - 5-8 am

Directions: Primrose Overlook via Horse FlatTrailhead , American Fk Cyn (Parking is limited going early to get a spot is advised)

Cost: $6 day use fee or free with National Parks Pass

Activity: This a beautiful 3.6 mile loop that offers some incredible views! All Trails Trip Report.

Watch for Stinging Nettle along the east side of loop especially - pants advised

Tips:

• Trekking poles were very helpful both going up and down. The trail is dry, but quite steep for short stretches.

• Bring layers that are easy to peel off and have a jacket to wear at the top while we aren’t moving.

• Backpacking chair was nice to sit and lean back against to enjoy the show.

• Bring a small stove and kettle for hot cocoa or other warm drink

Bathrooms - yes pit toilets at trailhead (only open in the summer)

Cell Phone Reception - at Primrose overlook and trailhead

Dogs - yes

Gear: Hiking pants, synthetic T-shirt, long sleeve synthetic top, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, hat, headlamp, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack with waist belt, 2-3 Liters water, 4-6 snacks, first aid kit, hiking boots/running shoes, trekking poles
