Hiking/Swimming - Tubb's Hill, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho 7/25/24



Sample Itinerary:

Trailhead - 4 pm

Hike to east side beach - 415 pm

Play at the beach - 415-515 pm

Explore the island - 515-630 pm


Directions: East Tubb's Hill Trailhead, Coeur D'Alene, Idaho (best trailhead is the north east side for best access to the beach and trail with swinging bridge - free but parking is limited. You can also park in the north parking area which has more parking, but you need to pay $2/hr - use QR code)


Cost: $2/hr parking if at the north parking area - McEuen Parking Area


Activities: 

Hiking Tubb's Hill - 2 mile loop around the hill with views of Coeur D'Alene lake on the east, south and west sides. Loop trail is dirt and takes you around the bottom of the hill with up and downhill and rocky sections. Many rocky spots for swimming and exploring. Also, many maze trails over the hill to other sides of the hill. There is a swinging bridge on the east side.  All Trails Trip Report.


Swiming - Fastest access to sandy beach is on the northeast trailhead (above). Walk about 5-10 min to sandy beach on the left side (will have to take steep trail down and it's unmarked)

Tip: WARNING - there are Sand Hornets in the sand which if you are stung will cause blistering and swelling over the course of a day or two. Will require steroids and antibiotics to improve.

Dogs - Yes


Gear: T-shirt, jacket, hiking pants/shorts, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack, 1 Liters water, snacks, hiking shoes/sandles, towel, swimmingsuit
