Itinerary:
10-11:30 am - Hike to Ensign Peak
11:30 -11:45 am - drive to Memory Grove
11:45-12:00 pm - Hike down to Memory Grove
12-1 pm - Picnic and play
Directions: Ensign Peak Trailhead, Salt Lake City
Memory Grove Parking, Salt Lake City
Activity: Hiking Ensign Peak - 1 mile total out and back. No shade and moderate uphill. Beautiful view of Salt Lake and the Ensign Peak memorial. Perfect for Pioneer Day!. We like to go to Memory Grove after to picnic in the shade by the pond. Park east of the Capitol Building and take the paved switchbacks down to Memory Grove. All Trails Trip Report
Tips:
This year they had E Coli in the water so no dogs or wading was allowed. The sign was up at the base of the off-leash dog area by the bridge.
Wandering on the off-leash dog trails is fun and shaded at Memory Grove
Bathrooms - not at Ensign Peak trailhead but yes at Memory Grove by the Reception Center on the north west side of the park, north of the Reception Center
Cell Reception - yes
Gear: 1 L water, snacks, hiking shoes, shorts/T-shirt, long sleeve, rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, backpack
