Sample Itinerary -
10-3 pm - rappelling groups in 2 hr shifts
Rappelling - There are several great rappel spots here.
Approach to Sun Rock - Straight ahead of the parking lot past the bathrooms about 100 ft and then take a right up a small gully to a boulder about 10 feet high and 30 feet long. There is a 15 ft steep scramble at the base with a wooden ladder and new bolts - we put in a new hand line. Scramble up to the base of 40 ft rappel.
Sun Rock - north (Beginner section) - 1 sloping 45 degree "rappel"40 ft. This is just the scramble to go up to the upper 40 ft rappels but there are 2 bolts you can use a training area.
Sun Rock (Beginner section) - 3 - 40 ft rappells - 2 bolted and one off a tree. Access from the left and then scramble up right to the top.
Gear - Harness (can rent), climbing helmet (can rent - can use ski helmets but not bike helmets), leather gloves, thin T-shirt, thin long-sleeve shirt, fleece, rain jacket, shorts or hiking pants, running shoes or boots, 1 L water , 2-4 snacks, small backpack, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, first aid kit. 2-3 60 m static ropes, anchor setup - we use the quad system with a totem in jester mode for a releasable anchor system and an additional top belay with a fireman belay)
