Itinerary -
11 am - Set up
11:30 - 12:30 pm - Meet/Ground Work - Red Ledges Picnic Area, Diamond Fk Cyn, Spanish Fk Cyn
12:30-2:30 pm - On Rock Skills
Cost - FREE area
Activity -
Rappelling Training
Set up:
Anchors - Quad anchors on 2 routes with second rope set up for top belay, PAS line
Ground Work:
Rappelling safety - firemans belay
Knots - Fishermans
Quad anchors
Rappelling on a munter
Setting a route with quad and totem in jester mode
Top Belaying (adding extension, using a device)
On Rock:
Set up route with quad and totem in jester mode
Rappel with munter
Fireman belay
Top Belay
Rescue
Lower on rope with Totem in jester mode
Tandem rescue with lock off
Tandem rescue with ascension gear (explained but did not get to practice)
Gear - climbing harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), climbing shoes (can rent), belay device with locking carabiner, T shirt, long sleeve shirt, jacket, pants, running shoes, 1-2L water, backpack, 2-4 snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses
Set up: 60 m static ropes, quad anchors, ATC/8 devices with locking carabiners, slings, locking carabiners, PAS's
Rentals (on your own) - climbing harness: $5 (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $10 (Out N’ Back in Orem)
climbing shoes: $6/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $4/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
helmet: $4/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $4/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
