Training - Rock Climbing (Assistant Guide Conf) - Red Ledges, Diamond Fk Cyn 8/6/21

Great bouldering area. Only one sport route 5.11 off the left side of the arch.

Directions - Red Ledges Picnic Area, Diamond Fk Cyn, Spanish Fk Cyn

Activity -

Rock Climbing Training - Met at picnic area and discussed Assistant Guide general safety policies and basic rock climbing techniques. Headed up canyon to north east slope below rappelling area and set up 2 top ropes (not ideal as they have significant rope drag). Sloping climbing area required some assistance for climbers. Practiced belaying and safety checks.

Gear - climbing harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), climbing shoes (can rent), T shirt, shorts/pants/yoga pants, running shoes, 1-2L water, backpack, 2-4 snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses

Rentals (on your own) - climbing harness: $5 (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $10 (Out N’ Back in Orem)

climbing shoes: $6/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $4/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
