Itinerary:
9-11 am - Hike
Directions: Daly Trailhead, Park City
Activity:
Snowshoe/Hike Daly Trail - 2.3 mile total out and back trail starting at the top of downtown Park City. The trail winds up through the the city for a bit, but then ends up in the woods outside the city. We loved snowshoeing/microspiking up and then sledding down. We did the Lower loop, then up to the first Silver Mine Structures. We then continued up the road to the second set of visible Mine structures (can see them from the first set of Mine Structures) and then left on Speedbag (see trail marker, Adopted by Katie & Graham Wagner in red bold on sign). We then connect back to Daly trailhead and took it straight down past the water tower to the parking lot. All Trails Trip Report
Tips:
HIKE N’ SLED
No Bathroom at the trailhead. if coming from Provo Canyon, stop at Park City Sports Complex first. If coming from Parley’s canyon - 7-11
If ICY - Put your ice cleats/microspikes on BEFORE you exit your car! The parking lot is an ice skating rink deceptively covered in a few inches of snow. Accident waiting to happen. Have your ice cleats handy and tell your carpool buddies to do the same. It is better after the parking lot. Take them off when sledding. Put BACK ON when going back into the parking lot.
Bring extra socks/shoes to change into especially if sledding. (We were surprised how wet our feet were. Nice to not have wet feet during the outdoor lunch). Our butts got wet sledding because snow got in the sleds so pack snow pants if doing that.
Bring chunky big gloves. Helps with steering while sledding.
If you sweat easily, you may want to bring a change of clothes and change after so you aren't cold later. Can change at your car or 7-11 after.
Bathrooms - NO - if coming from Provo Cyn stop at Park City Sports Park; or if coming from Parley's Cyn go to the 7-11
