Snowshoeing - Timpanogos Falls 3/15/22

Drive: I-15, 800 N Orem, Provo Canyon, Sundance Canyon (State Rd 32), pass Ranger toll booth, parking lot is on the left. Trailhead is on the west middle side of the parking lot. Trailhead.

Activity:

Hike/Snowshoe Timpanogos Waterfalls - 2 1/2 miles. Trailhead starts at the west middle side of the parking lot. You pass a hut in 1 min on the right. After about 5 min there is a fork in the trail, take the rt fork and you will be at a bridge in about 1 min. Cross bridge and switchback a couple times and in another 5 min there is another fork. Take the one to the left to continue to Timp Falls (The right will take you to Lone Horse Trail). The trail is straight forward now and just heads up the gully. After 0.8 miles, you get to the lower falls on the left. For upper falls, you switchback to the right and then back to the left to the falls. The trail takes you up on the right of the falls. Beware of falling ice or falling through the ice depending on the season. Also, beware of avalanches in the ravine. We needed snowshoes between the lower and upper falls. Trail Info.

Gear: Snowshoes/poles or Micro spikes/Yak Tracks (weather dependent), gaiters (optional -

can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom, wool socks or just not cotton socks,

snow pants, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses,

sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack (with space remaining to shove clothes in

when you get too warm), 1 Liters water, 3-4 snacks, WATERPROOF boots or non-

waterproof boots/shoes and also rent "overshoes"

Itinerary: 2.5-3 miles total

Trailhead - 445 pm

5 pm - 5:30 pm - Hike to lower falls

5:45 pm - Arrive at upper falls

6:30 pm - Back at parking lot
