Cross Country Skiing - Solitude Nordic Trails, Big Cottonwood Cyn 2/17/26

Sample Itinerary:

9 am - Carpooling (1 min hr drive) - depending

10 am - Arrive at Solitude Nordic Center

10:30-12:30pm - Ski lesson and trail

1:30 pm - Home

Cost: $20 per person. $26 to rent XC Skis. Free parking for 4+ people in a car.

Activities:

Cross Country Ski at Solitude Nordic Center. You can do around 4-6 miles of fairly level terrain. Beautiful scenery. Quite hilly.  In between Brighton and solitude.  Flat lake trail is only for snowshoeing so the Nordic ski loops have quite a few hills. It also was pricy $20 for pass and $28 to rent but for bad snow year it's a good option.

Gear: Cross-country skiis/poles/shoes (can rent at visitors center), gaiters (optional - can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom (synthetic yoga pants), wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants (if it will be snowing, otherwise they get too hot), long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too warm), 1 Liters water, 3-4 snacks

Rentals:

Cross Country Skis – ($12/day – UVU Outdoor Adventure Center; $11/day BYU Outdoors) or you can rent them at the Nordic Center at Solitude $26.
