Updated: 5 days ago

Sample Itinerary:

Rent Gear/Fees - 10:15 am

Ski Loop 10:15 am - 1:00 pm

Drive: Wasatch State Park Visitors Center, Wasatch State Park

Cost:

Permits - $10 day use fee (FREE if you have a State Parks pass) pay in the visitors center

Trail Fee: $5

Activities: Cross Country Ski Loop - 3 miles - Nordic track groomed lake trail starts right from the Visitor Center. You immediately have beautiful views! The golf course is bordered by a north and south road and on the west by a large sloping hill which is very easy to go up if you are not paying attention to the trails on the south west side. The loop is like 4 fingers that starts about 5 min west of the visitors center. Recommend going counter clockwise for beginners. It is flat at the beginning this way with a slight decline on the way back. The bridge at the start of the trail can be icy and tricky for first timers to maneuver so for them I recommend walking with your skis over the bridge to the fork on the right and putting skis on on the flat. Duck pond about 10 min around the loop. Can go off trail if you like. Bathrooms at the visitors center. Great thing about WMSP is you will hardly see anyone else on the course. I have been several times on Saturdays and only see a handful of other small groups.

Bathrooms - yes

Cell Phone Reception - yes

Dogs - yes on leash on some trails

Gear: Cross-country skis/poles/shoes (can rent at visitors center) gaiters (optional - can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom (synthetic yoga pants), wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants (if it will be snowing, otherwise they get too hot), long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular backpack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too warm), 1 Liters water, 3-4 snacks

Rentals: Cross Country Skis/poles/shoes: $20 adult / $10 child (Wasatch State Park) ($10 per adult if we get a group of 10 or more going). If you’re going on a Saturday - recommend making a reservation for your ski package rental. We are going on a Thursday, no need to reserve skis before. They will have enough for rentals!
