Hiking Mahogany Mountain 9/14/21

One of the foothill summits below Mt Timp, this is the place to go if you want a trail all to yourself, plus a little 4-wheeling adventure.

Directions - 5.5 mile one way high clearance rocky dirt road from the Timpanookee Trailhead, then turn rt 0.2 miles to the Mahogany Mountain Trailhead. (all wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicles recommended)

Activity -

Hike Mahogany Mountain- 5.6 mile round trip lightly trafficked out and back trail on the valley side of Mt Timpanogos. If you want a shorter option, you can just hike 2.6 mile round trip to a viewpoint of the valley. After the viewpoint the trail heads south through the brush. It becomes very difficult to follow until you reach the top of the hill and head down to the saddle before hitting the summit. The saddle area is difficult to follow the trail for about 100-200 feet as well but then becomes easier to see along the ridgeline to the summit. A GPS app (like Gaia or Alltrails) is very helpful in the tricky areas. We saw no other people the whole trail. Trail Report
