Ice Rappelling - Battle Creek Falls 1/20/24

Itinerary:

Trailhead - 8:00 am

Hike to Falls - 8:30 am

Rappelling - 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

Hike Back - 12:00 pm -  12:30 pm


Directions: Battle Creek Falls Trail Head, Pleasant Grove


Activity: Ice Rappelling - Hike up 0.6 miles to the waterfall. Set up 2-3 top rope routes above the falls (all bolted). You will be rappelling on the left side of the frozen 50 ft falls! There are 4 bolted anchors to the left of the falls.


Notes: The belayer below may be sprayed with water from the waterfall, so we set up a belay station a bit to the left of the waterfall. Wear a waterproof jacket.


Gear: MICROSPIKES (can't rent, must buy online or at sports store), Harness (can rent), climbing helmet (can rent - can use ski helmets but not bike helmets), rappel device, locking carabiner, leather gloves, thin long-sleeve shirt, thin puffy coat, fleece jacket, rain jacket, (NO BIG SKI COATS, hiking or thin ski pants, waterproof boots, 1-2 L water , 2-4 snacks, small backpack, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, first aid kit
