International Trip - Puerto Peñasco, Mexico 10/11-16/23



Itinerary:

Day 1 -

7:00 am - Meet Springville

Drive 9 -10 hr to Buckeye, AZ.

Sleep at Holiday Inn, Phoenix


Day 2 -

Caravan drive 3 hr to the border

Lukeville Border Crossing (open 6am -8pm)- Drive slow when crossing the border! 1 hr to Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Stop at Penasco Sign for a group pic. Settle in at the condo. Play time (walmart, sams club, beach time, mini golf, pool, etc.)

4:00 pm - dinner at Pollos Lucas

5:00 pm - Sunset cruise or resort play

Sleep at Las Palmas Resort Casa Blanca Golf Villas


Day 3 -

Excursions (optional, you choose: parasailing, horseback riding on beach, ATV rides on dunes, etc.)

Breakfast on own

Lunch on own

Group potluck dinner at resort


Day 4 -

Excursions (optional, you choose: boat cruise to Bird Island/kayak with sea lions)

Group pic at Peñasco sign. Shop souvenirs on Rodeo Drive.

Breakfast on your own.

Lunch on own or on boat

Dinner at La Curva Mexican Restaurant or on your own.


Day 5 -

Excursions (optional, you choose). Enjoy the last day. Pack.

Group potluck breakfast, lunch on own, dinner BBQ party at resort.


Day 6 -

Drive 14 - 15 hrs home.


Directions: 15 hr drive from Salt Lake City area (we usually break it up by sleeping around Phoenix; Caravan across the border)


Cost: $500 - 800 (depending on excursions) includes estimated cost for gas and hotel split with others, shared hotel in Mexico, food on own.


Housing:

Las Palmas Resort Casa Blanca Golf Villas - This is a gated, secure resort in condos by the beach. Shared rooms/beds/couches. Bring - bottled water, paper products, plastic ware 


Activities:

  • Condo Actvities - mini golf, pools, BBQ area, walk to the beach

  • Parasailing (Rocky Point Adventures) -

  • Horseback Riding on beach (Rocky Point Adventures) 

    • 1 hr (10 am-6pm)

    • $40 pp

    • Ride on the beach at sunset or try a beginner ride. Horses treated well. Wear closed toed shoes, long pants, hat

  • ATV/RAZR rides on dunes  (Rocky Point Adventures)

    • 1 hr (10-6pm)

    • $200+ for 4 seater

    • 17 yrs + to drive

  • Sunset Cruise (Rocky Point Adventures)

    • 2 hr (6-8pm)

    • $35+ adults/$20 youth

    • Covered boat that sails around the port and up and down the coast. Alchololic or non alchololic drinks available, chips/salsa. Music

  • Pirate Sunset Cruise (Rocky Point Adventures) 

    • 2 hr (6-8pm)

    • $42 adults/$36 teens/$18 youth

    • Includes dinner (chicken fajitas/chips/salsa or pizza for youth), drinks, pirate entertainment, games, fireworks

  • Bird Island/kayak with sealions (Rocky Point Adventures)

  • Deep sea fishing (Rocky Point Adventures) 

    • 6 hr (7-1pm)

    • $96 pp

    • Includes fishing supplies, fishing licence, filleting fish


Food: (Don’t drink the water there, even with brushing teeth use bottled water. Even mixed drinks on the cruises if they have water added)

Medical Info:

  • 911 in Mexico is 066

  • Sandy Beach Urgent Care (closest if at the resorts)

  • San Jose Clinic  (Urgent care down town open 24 hrs) 

  • Santa Fe Clinic (another urgent care 24 hrs, no transportation)

  • Mexican Red Cross (24 hr services & transportation) 


Phone Service: Verizon, Spring, TMobile and AT&T work in Puerto Penasco. Make sure to call your provider and find out if there is an international plan to avoid roaming charges which can be very costly!
