Activity:

Rappelling Cougar Cliffs - Park on the west side of the road and follow the dirt trail through the gate and then west to the intermediate cliffs (130 ft). All routes are bolted or have chains and there are MANY. We saw about 3 sets about 20 feet from each other. Cliffs are north facing with a little hanging rappels on some. We prefer to use the 2 on top close to each other and one just west in a gully which has an easier start for newer rappelers.

Exit - Walk out takes about 10 min. Head to the north and follow the 40 ft scramble up a moderate slopey rock with a handline (usually) and mochi steps. Follow the gully up about 20 ft and then make your way east (right) and back up to the rappel area.

The beginner cliffs are to the south from the top. We found a 40 ft wall that you can scramble up the backside with 2 bolts on top and a flat north wall for rappelling.
