Itinerary:
Carpool - 9:00 am
Trailhead - 9:30 am
Bike - 9:30 am - 11:00 am
Home - 11:45 am
Directions: Trailhead, Wayne Bartholomew Family Park, Mapleton (This is my favorite place to start this bike ride because it is flat. Great for kids, scooters, Sunday strolls, dog walking and bike rides. Free parking)
Activity: Bike - Mapleton Lateral Canal Trail - 10.5 mile loop on paved trail. Route - Mapleton Main St and about 1700 S to Spanish Fork windmills and back to hill above Wayne Bartholomew Reservoir. All Trails Trip Report
Tip:
- Want a picturesque slight challenge? Start at Bartholomew Reservoir. Ride around the water and then up the hill. Just note that you will need to pay for parking or post a Springville resident card on your dashboard. Tip: Just park where I advise and ride your bike down to Bartholomew to skip having to pay but still get the use of the area.
Note: Mapleton Lateral Trail will be connecting to Spanish Fork River Trail in Phase 3 coming in next few years. It will continue as a 10 ft across trail with 3 bridges and go under the highway.
Gear: Bike, helmet, biking pants/shorts/yoga pants, synthetic T-shirt, long sleeve synthetic top, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, thin gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack with waist belt, 1-2 Liters water bottles or in a bladder in a small backpack, 3-4 snacks, first aid kit, running shoes/biking shoes
