Sailing - Lindon Marina, Lindon 5/23/26


Sample Itinerary:

Utah Lake State Park - 10:45 am

Sailing and instruction - 11-1 pm


Directions - South launch ramp,  at Utah Lake State Park (4400 W Center St, Provo):

Drive straight in from the guard booth until you see the “tower building” and the sign that says “South Launch Ramp turn left”. You will turn left and drive past the first cove. You will then see a brick bathroom and a trailer full of boats to your right.


UPDATED Cost: Sunfish sailboats, life jackets, and lessons are FREE.

  • Parking - $20 at Utah Lake State Park or FREE with a Utah State Parks pass. Walk-ins are $5. Come 10 min early if you want to park at the gate and carpool in. Allow extra time for traffic.

  • Tip your sailing assistant (Jim Daniels) - $10 recommended. (cash, check or venmo @jwdfamily). Encouraged but not required.


Activities:

Sailing the Sunfish Sailboats -Instruction at shore picnic tables and then sailing in the cove (we will not be out on the main lake). There will be 2-3 people per boat. We will also be learning to set up and take down the sailboats. There is a short debrief at the end.


This activity is put on by Jim Daniels, a Sea Scout Leader.


Tips:

Life jackets required (provided)

Wear sunscreen/hat/sunglasses



Sailing Videos: (Knowing all the info and terms is not required – it just provides some background)


Gear: T-shirt, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, pants/shorts, swimming suit, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, 1 Liter water, snacks, sandals, fanny pack for your car keys. Life jackets are provided.
