Itinerary:

Intermediate Class - 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Beginner Class - 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Activity:

Self Defense skills (taught by Candace Wilson and assisted by Marilyn and Kurtt Boucher). Learn simple but effective physical moves that could save your life and keep you safe. Highly applicable easy to learn techniques - we encourage you after the class to go home and teach your loved ones. We have taught this course several times and are open to catering the course to the needs/skill level of participants. If you have taken this course from us before, we will be reviewing physical moves, but also building on them.


Training Outline:


NO ONE has the right to hurt you! You have value! You have worth! You can not be replaced! NO ONE means NO ONE.


YOU ARE WORTH DEFENDING.

Situational Awareness

  • Listen to your gut.

  • Make yourself a difficult target.

  • Be aware of who is around you and what is around you.

  • Look up from your phone.

  • Be aware of Exits.

  • Eye contact is a deterrent. 

  • Don’t walk, run nor hike alone.

  • Ask to be escorted out to your car in sketchy areas.

  • It is ok to not be polite!

  • Run-Hide-Fight.

Verbal Defense

  • “Back Off Pervert!” - Yell

Physical Defense -

  • Run First. Run to well lit places where there are people.

  • Hide Second.

  • Fight Third. Anything goes in an attack. Fight like hell.

    • Arm Grab Escape - Windmill Arms - Arms straight out in front of you. Elbows locked. Clasp Hands. No interlocking fingers, just simple hand clasp. Doesn’t matter which hand is on top of clasp. Make full body big circles with arms like a windmill. Doesn’t matter which direction the circle goes. Start before you are even grabbed. If grabbed keep going until he lets go (he will soon as it is your whole body weight vs. muscles in thumb and would break his wrist). Run.

    • Groin Kick - Ninja Ballerina - Take a man down quick. No warning. No weight shifting. Stealthy move, don’t give him any warning. Leg straight out, pointed toes. Target is his belly button. Run

    • Palm Strikes - Use the meaty base of your palm to hit.  Defensive moves to eyes, nose, throat, groin when a foot away.  Hit straight on. Strike through the body. Power from your legs and force from your back foot, twist to get force. Twist back foot. Use your hips for power in your strike. Run.

    • Elbow Strikes - Your elbow is a powerful weapon. Use it. Jab your elbow with force into eyes, nose, throat, groin when an inch or closer away. Effective for close combat. Works if facing forward or backward. Side strikes & back strikes. Kick or can elbow strike the groin too. Run.

    • Choke Hold Escape - When being choked by two hands from someone facing you.  Arm straight up, pivot body with arm toward them, turn, drop down with dead weight, Run.

    • Headlock Choke Escape 1) Elbow Push, 2) Step Behind, 3) Push off the Hip. Push elbow up over your chin while taking step behind them with your inner foot to create space, push off. Run. 

    • Hair Grabs at your Scalp & Clothing Grabs - You OWN their hands. Grab double handed to you, push down on scalp or if clothes push down to center of body, spin out. Run.

    • Note: Groin kick - Ninja Ballerina - works great too for hair grabs that are not at the scalp but just grabbing end or middle of your hair in a pony tail.

Gear: comfortable pants and shirt, sweatshirt, shoes, hair tied back, 1L water bottle,

(Intermediate class please bring a yoga mat)
