Snowshoeing -Willow Lake 12/19/23

Itinerary:

Snowshoe - 10-1230 pm


Directions: Big Cottonwood Cyn, Utah. Willow Heights Trailhead  Parking on roadside. No bathrooms.


Activity:

Snowshoe/Hike - Willow Lake (Willow Heights) trail - 2.4 mile loop to a large pond. Trailhead is marked by large boulder with "Willow Heights" inscribed on the north side of the road. Trail heads north for about 5 min then reaches a "T". Either way will take you to the lake. Right has several switch backs. Left crosses a bridge and then in about 2 in has a sharp right turn onto an old road. Follow up to lake. There is a trail that goes around the lake as well and through a nice aspen forest. Monitor Avalanche Conditions. All Trails Trip Report.


Camping - Several spots at the pond/lake. Primitive camping. Mosquitos close to the pond.


Gear - winter pants, long sleeve synthetic top, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, light down coat, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack with waist belt, 1-2 Liters water, 3-4 snacks, first aid kit, waterproof boots, trekking poles (optional), snowshoes
