Soldier Hollow does 2 free days a year for beginners - free day pass AND rentals!
Sample Itinerary:
1:45 pm- rent gear at soldier hollow Nordic center
2pm- start on training area in front of rental shop (this may be all that Littles can do)
245pm - ski or walk down to stadium area
3-345 pm- ski around the stadium area
345- ski or walk back uphill to rental area
4 pm- ski area closes

Activity:
Entrance to rental shop is in the basement, enter from the east. Sign waivers and get sized up for rental gear. There is a flat spot just south of the rental shop for practicing on skis. Usually there is a volunteer on the free days to give simple instruction. WALK (without skis - too steep for beginners) down the slope to the south to the large stadium loop and practice skiing there. When done, WALK back up. There is sometimes a big snow pile fun for sliding.
Gear: (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom (synthetic yoga pants or equivalent), wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, backpack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too
warm), 1-2 Liters water for your crew, snacks hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, snacks (rent gear there)
Rentals:
Soldier Hollow (FREE skis, boots, poles on selected days)
