Caving - Beck's Mine, Eureka 5/23/26

Sample Itinerary:

Carpooling - 8-9 am (1 hr drive from Utah Co)

Eureka (Tintic) High School - 10 am

Drive to Cave - 10 am - 10:30 am

Explore Cave - 10:30am - 2:30 pm

Drive Back to High School - 2:30-3pm

Directions:  Tintic High School, Eureka

Activity:

• Drive to cave - takes only about 5 min on rough dirt road

• Hike to cave - 5 min hike on dirt road

• Explore mine - This mine is a maze and you can get easily lost. Our Trip Leader, created an awesome route involving old mining tunnels, a small cave, handlines, scrambling, and ending with a short ride in a mining car! There are multiple very deep pits you can fall into. Only enter this mine with someone who has been before.

Tips:

• DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THE WOODEN STRUCTURES AS SOME ARE LOAD BEARING AND CAN COLLAPSE

• DO NOT WALK ON ANY WOODEN FLOORS AS THEY CAN COLLAPSE

• Wear gloves at all times

Gear: Helmet, headlamp, small flashlight, extra batteries (3 sources of light), knee pads. Clothes you are ok to get dirty - Hiking pants or old jeans, synthetic t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, light waterproof jacket (optional), back pack with few to no straps - dry bags are best but will get scraped, 2 Liters water, 3-4 snacks, brown bag lunch, first aid kit, hiking boots/running shoes, gloves with good grip, change of clothes in a garbage bag, baby wipes
