Itinerary:

Drive down Friday night (3 1/2 hr) - camp on Sand Flats BLM land (cost - $15 per night)

Drive down Sat morning (3 1/2 hr)

9:00 am - Set up Shuttle: Grand Staff Trailhead - drop off one vehicle

9:30 am - Entrance Trailhead

10:30 am - Hike to first rappel

11:00 am - First Rappel

12:00 pm - Second Rappel

1:00 pm - Hike out

4:00 pm - Exit Trailhead

5:00 pm - Dinner in Moab



Activity: Canyoneering Medieval Chamber - one of the best beginner-friendly canyoneering adventures in the Moab area. Good anchors, relatively short, with two impressive rappels. 1/2 day trip. Although not very long, it is renowned for its last rappel. The last rappel, Morning Glory Arch, is very popular with tourists, so expect a crowd awaiting your dramatic entrance from above.


Gear: Rappel device with ability to lock off and add friction (ATS, Totem, Critter, Prana), locking carabiner, harness (can rent), helmet (can rent), (NO COTTON) thin liner short sleeve shirt, hiking pants, rain/windproof jacket, shoes with grip, headlamp, 2 L water, 4-6 snacks + packed lunch, backpack, first aid kit, small knife, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat


Rentals (on your own):

- Harness: $5/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $17 (BYU Outdoors Unltd)

- Helmet: $4/day (BYU Outdoors Unltd); $4/day (UVU Outdoor Adventure Center)
