Mt Youth - Kayaking - Silver Lake Flats, American Fk Cyn 7/27/26


Sample Itinerary:

10 am - Meet at Tibble Fk (east bathrooms for carpooling - high clearance vehicles needed - no trailers)

10-1030 am - drive up to Silver Lake Flats

1030-1 pm - kayak/paddleboard

1 pm - drive down to Tibble Fk


Cost: Day Pass: $10 or National Parks Pass


Directions: Silver Lake Flats parking area, American Fk Cyn


Activity: Kayaking/Paddleboard Silver Lake Flats - Put in on the west rocky shore. Walk is about 100 ft from the parking area depending on water levels. No shade, trees or grass. Water is cold but clear. Views wonderful. Fishing ususally on the east side.


Tips:

  • There are no trailers allowed on the dirt road from tibble fork parking lot up to silver lake flat. So kayaks/paddleboards will need to be transported in minivans or in pickups.

  • Earlier the better for smoother water

  • Later in the summer this reservoir may get drained so early summer is best to visit

Dogs - yes


Gear: sit on top kayaks (best for youth or those new to kayaking), or paddleboards, paddles, life jackets, dry bag (optional), 1 L water, snacks, water shoes, shorts/T-shirt, swimming suit, towel, long sleeve, rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, backpack, cooler


ANYONE PARTICIPATING IN A WATER ACTIVITY THIS YEAR (kayaking, rafting, paddleboarding, canoeing) is REQUIRED to complete the 2026 DWR Aquatic Invasive Species training on preventing Mussel spread in Utah. It is free and takes about 20 min. https://wildlife.utah.gov/invasive-mussels.html
