Snowshoeing - Skyline Trail North, Fairview Cyn Cabin Retreat 1/22/22

Beautiful easy snowshoeing terrain with low avalanche danger. Loud snowmobiles though.

Directions - Drive to top of Fairview Canyon and park at Skyline Drive Parking lot. Pit toilets open. Huge parking lot.

Activity -

Snowshoeing Skyline Drive Trail North - Start in Skyline Drive parking lot and head north along FR150 or Skyline Drive to metal gate (about 3/4 mi) and turn left. Go about 1/4 mile (to the twin aspen trees on the left) and then turn rt heading north down a beautiful powdery slope to the 3103 trail heading east. Go east through a huge meadow and pass a big pine tree on your rt. Head left and then south around the hill keeping the same elevation and then left downhill. Turn rt onto 0124 Gooseberry Rd which heads back gradually uphill to the parking lot (or you can cut through a million places for your own trail). See map below.

Sledding - just north east of parking lot

Gear -Snowshoes/poles(can rent), skis/poles/boots or snowboard, helmet (can rent), thin liner pants, thin long sleeve shirt, ski pants, ski coat, hat, gloves, goggles, hand warmers, snacks gaiters (optional - can rent), (NO COTTON) thermal top and bottom, wool socks or just not cotton socks, snow pants, long sleeve fleece, light waterproof jacket, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, camelback or regular back pack (with space remaining to shove clothes in when you get too warm), 2 Liters water, 3-4 snacks, WATERPROOF boots or non-waterproof boots/shoes and also rent "overshoes".

Overshoes: $4 (UVU Outdoor Adventure); $5 (BYU Outdoors Unltd)

Poles: $4 (Out N Back); $5 (BYU Outdoors Unltd)

Gaiters - cover ankles from getting snow $3 (BYU Outdoors Unltd)
